Dear Church,
Over the last several
months, with much prayer and discussion, the Building & Grounds and
Finance Committees has been meeting with Engineers, contractors and
builders to assess needed repairs to the
B-Wing of our
church. Listed below is a compilation and costs of these needed repairs:
Façade repair to the
B-Wing - The façade holding the current big windows in place has deteriorated
to the point that the brick has pulled away from the sill and is allowing water
to run between the block and the brick. If not addressed, this will cause
catastrophic failure and allow the brick to loosen and fall onto the playground
area.
The cost for the repair
to the façade on both sides of the B-Wing, is estimated at $18,823.00.
Windows in B-Wing
- The existing windows are the original windows that were installed in
1947. Caulking around most of these windows has become dry and brittle, and in
some cases, has fallen from around the window pane. Some windows are
broken and patched with tape or other material. This has caused some
windows to be and in danger of falling out. This has also allowed heat and air
to leak out during the winter and summer months, thereby increasing utility
costs..
The cost of replacing
these windows is estimated at $60,000. Additionally, the remaining 73 windows
to the B-Wing need to be replaced. The cost of replacing these windows is
estimated at $64,000.00 for a total cost of replacing windows estimated at
$124,000.00
Retaining Wall -
The retaining wall surrounding the playground area has deteriorated and also is
in danger of falling onto the playground area. The water drainage from
this wall during heavy rains is also allowing water to seep into the 2nd floor of the B-Wing and causing damage to some rooms.
The cost for repair of
the retaining wall is estimated at $26,000.00
The total cost for these
three projects is estimated to be $168,823.00
The benefit of said
repairs would improve the structural integrity of the B-Wing and provide a
more safe and secure area for our children to play and would decrease the cost
of our utilities.
These repairs are
necessary and will need a “whole church” effort to accomplish these
tasks.
Please find attached, a
Pledge Card that you can use to make a pledge toward these projects or you can
make a one-time donation, but please give what God lays on your heart to give.
Most of all, please be in fervent prayer that God will continue to bless our
church and it will continue to grow and be “the Light on the Hill” for the
lost and burdened in our community.
If you have any
questions about the projects or on how to pledge, please contact Tim Smith,
Building & Grounds Committee or Allen McGill, Finance Committee.
Thank You and God Bless,
